Nowruz/Norooz/Nowrooz Mubarak! : Persian New Year

نوروز مبارک! NOWRUZ/Norooz/Nowrooz Mubarak! I know the world is in darkness right now, but it is important to remember to spread love, joy, positivity, I wish all my Persian & Afghan friends Happy Nowruz - Persian New Year ushering in Spring! 🙏🌹🌷🌺 Here is my Nowruz card for you! <3🙏

CONCEPT :

I grew up in Fremont, CA aka Lil' Kabul. I prefer Afghan food to Indian :) I have a lot of Afghan & Persian friends and our cultures are pretty much exactly the same ;)

I combined Pomegranates (my favorite fruit, also the national fruit of Iran), Persian flowers (drawn from Persian miniature paintings), Peacock feathers (Almost all Hindu Gods are depicted with these feathers they represent knowledge/beauty, in Iran/Afghanistan they are used as bookmarks for the Holy Quran) into a pattern, given my working background in the world of fashion and textile design.

I was inspired by pop art, fashion, and "modern" Persian calligraphers (who use elongated letters in their work)
The calligraphy I did by hand.
