"Pilayar" Arabic Calligraphy Art Print
"Pilayar" Arabic Calligraphy Art Print
CONCEPT :
Lord Ganesha is the most recognizable (across the globe) of all Hindu Deities because of his elephant head. Beloved by many faiths, remover of obstacles, lord of wisdom, and good luck. But appearances can be deceiving!
The SUPREME LORD. The first deity ALL Hindu (regardless of school/thought/practice etc.) prayers begin with.
Lord Ganesha is known by many names and is referred to as Pilayar in the Tamil language. Pilai = son/child Yar= who? Which translates to “who’s son is he? Meaning the divine belongs to one and all.
Contrary to popular belief, Hindus are NOT Idol worshipers. Instead, deities/arts are visuals/tools to connect with the formless divine. The theory behind worshipping multiple deities is there is One God, but with many faces and they are all aspects of the same divine.
In Islam, there are 99 names of God including Al-Fattah (He who opens the solution to all problems and eliminates obstacles) and Al-Alim (He who is all-knowing)
A nod to my Tamil heritage “Pilayar” is written in stylized Arabic Calligraphy with the words forming the face and ears. The “Tamil” “Ohm” is incorporated into the design as well.
Ganesha has an elephant head representing wisdom and large ears to listen to the
problems of his devotees.
