Tibetan Snow Lion Unisex Tee
Tibetan Snow Lion Unisex Tee
CONCEPT :
Tibet has always been a deep source of inspiration for me. Years ago, I participated in a skateboard art gallery show sponsored by the Beastie Boys, where I designed this t-shirt to accompany my hand-painted, silk-screened skateboard art. My work has always focused on education, faith, and uniting diverse cultures.
The Snow Lion—part of the Tibetan flag since 1909—remains a powerful symbol of Tibetan identity and resilience. Their rich culture, art, and faith deeply influence my designs.
The bronze Snow Lion depicted on this t-shirt is inspired by a 17th-century piece (found in the Rubin Museum of Art's permanent collection) which would have held a deity like Buddha, Avalokiteshvara, or Tara.
Tibetan Buddhism’s many deities, similar to Hinduism, inspired me, reminding me of figures like Lord Nandi, who carries Lord Shiva, or Garuda, who serves Lord Vishnu.
Blending my experience in the action sports and streetwear industries, I added camouflage details to modernize and bring the design to life.
